Red Spider Lily/Galantamine
For those who don’t know, acetylcholinesterase inhibitors seem to have an immense impact on lucid dreaming.
Acetylcholine is an important neurotransmitter that in some way interacts with
muscle movement, memory and especially dreaming.
Acetylcholinesterase is a substance that the body produces to break down the nervous system’s supply of acetylcholine. However, through the magic of acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, higher concentrations of acetylcholine may be retained! This is especially promising for Alzheimer’s patients who suffer
from a large build up of acetylcholinesterase in their brains.
Now, the number one acetylcholinesterase inhibitor (go on, just try to say that one five times fast) within the lucid dreaming community seems to be Galantamine. However, the problem with Galantamine is that it’s far too expensive! Since Galantamine is extracted from the Red Spider Lily, one wonders if a supplement of the plant may produce effects as well. Hmmmm….
